‘Scatter my Words among Mankind’

Résumé

This paper argues that Shelley is the prophet of non-violence. His revolt against the social and economic iniquities of Regency England led him to elaborate a strategy that was to be found a century later, in the struggle for independence in India, in the Black Civil Rights Movement in the United States, in Latin America, and South Africa.
