Désarmement et ses incidences sur l'économie des pays en voie de développement

Résumé : Military spending is supposed to meet the security needs of a country, a state. However, they lead either to knock-on effects or to crowding-out effects. They depend on the political and bureaucratic influences of the States, but they also make it possible to exert effects of domination on the weakest countries of the Third World. The armament intervenes in the choices of research and development, in the types of investment, in the purchasing power of the citizens. Aid to Third World countries is often linked to the effect of economic domination by developed countries. The conversion of the military to the civilian sector following disarmament can lead to regional and sectoral crises in producing countries, which can lead them to withdraw their support for the economies of Third World countries. Any disarmament process must be justified by itself, not by the desire to accelerate the economic development of a country, since the costs of conversion are not negligible, at least in the short term.
