A hollow microcavity enzymatic fuel cell for in vivo energy harvesting
Résumé
A hollow microcavity enzymatic fuel cell for in vivo energy harvesting Berezovska et al. report a glucose/O 2 enzymatic fuel cell (EFC) using a ''cavity electrode'' design for biocatalyst entrapment. The new hollow EFC exhibits impressive performance and good stability. Implanted in living rats, voltages show a strong correlation with animal weight. Postmortem analysis confirms robustness and biocompatibility, offering a significant advancement in long-lasting implantable EFCs.
