From the mediation of objects to scientific and technical knowledge, terminological and ontological representation of Information Technology heritage : the ITinHeritage research project
La médiation des objets aux savoirs scientifiques et techniques, terminologie et représentation ontologique du patrimoine des Technologies de l'Information : le projet de recherche ITinHeritage
Résumé
Safeguarding our Information Technology (IT) heritage is in the public interest. The rapid evolution of IT has left little room for its study and enhancement. The ITinHeritage research project aims to understand how contemporary scientific and technical knowledge can be perpetuated and mediated, based on this particular heritage. Our approach starts with IT museums. With our partners: Musée des Arts et Métiers, ACONIT (France), London Science Museum (England), NAM-IP (Belgium), Museo del calcolo (Italy), Homecomputermuseum (Holland), HNF (Germany), we are developing an innovative approach of Digital Humanities by creating a knowledge graph supported by terminology and ontology of the field integrating major European projects (Europeana, CIDOC-CRM, OntoMe), accessible via a platform on the semantic web (Linked Open Data (LOD)), based on upstream and downstream analysis of scientific and technical knowledge transfer mechanisms.
