Sprache ohne Ort: Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Terézia Mora, Herta Müller

Résumé

Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Terézia Mora and Herta Müller can be considered multilingual writers who represent literary métissage within contemporary German Liter-ature. Notably their essays and short stories in the volumes ‹ Der Hof im Spiegel › (2001), ‹ Seltsame Materie › (1999) and ‹ Der König verneigt sich und tötet › (2003) develop a poetics of strangeness based on highly expressive proceedings of cultur-al displacements and linguistic interferences. In Özdamar’s, Mora’s and Müller’s writing, the multicultural experience and perspectives increase the consciousness of the poetic process itself, where language becomes the material for a particular style which makes German sound foreign. The aim of this contribution is to show some narrative strategies in the texts of the three writers, who, by deterritorializing language, contribute to what might be described as post-national aesthetics.
