Où va la recherche en éducation ? Analyse factorielle de résumés de communications aux Biennales de l'éducation et de la formation

Abstract : The purpose of this paper is to describe the evolution of educational research programmes by analysing abstracts presented at one of the four "Biennales de l'éducation et de la formation". LSA (latent semantic analysis) is used with this end in view. It is a statistical model of word usage closely akin to factor analysis. Large text corpora were first processed, then semantic similarities between words and texts were computed. Two words are all the more semantically closer they are often encountered in the same communications, or that they are near of words themselves near from each others. LSA allows us to determine, for each biennale, the most central words, as well as the words semantically nearer to these words. Hence the general and particular evolution of these central words is described, as well as a concept map representing their semantic similarities. This method may yield the analysis of the overall evolution of a research domain paradigm.
